We are pleased to offer the Cynosure Apogee Elite Laser treatment to our patients. We are responding to your request for procedures without needles, that have no downtime. This series of laser treatments is designed to minimize or eliminate smaller red and blue veins that can occur on either the face or legs.
The treatments are non-invasive; there is no downtime and no healing required, and normal activity can be resumed immediately after treatment. A series of 3 – 5 treatments at six week intervals is typically recommended.
What is laser sclerotherapy?
Laser sclerotherapy is the destruction of veins using a wavelength of light that is attracted to hemoglobin or blood.
What can I expect after sclerotherapy?
After your treatment the veins will be raised, red and irritated. You will be required to refrain from any activities that will cause the veins to dilate for 48 hours and you will be asked to wear compression hose if the veins are on your legs.
How long does the treatment take? How many treatments will I need?
Depending on the number of veins and the size of them, your treatment session will last from 15-30 minutes. You will need between 3 and 5 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart. Once again the number of treatments is usually determined by the size of the veins.
Are there any side effects?
As with any laser procedure, the most common side effects are burning, blistering, hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation. With sclerotherapy bruising is also common.
How much does sclerotherapy cost and will my insurance cover it?
The cost of sclerotherapy is determined by the number of veins that we treat. Insurance will not cover the removal of broken veins with a laser.
Are the results of treatment with sclerotherapy temporary?
The results of sclerotherapy are long lasting. Although, when people get broken veins and capillaries it is usually an indication that they have fragile capillary walls. Chances are they will break new ones over time.
